Q. What should I expect from tuition?

Ultimately a tutoring session can look like whatever you want it to. Personally, I have found the most productive use of an hour is to focus on a topic to discuss for 20 minutes, then spending the remaining 40 minutes looking over relevant exam questions.

For students close to their final examinations, it’s also quite common to spend the hour running through any questions you have been struggling with in your revision.

Q. Why 1-1 tuition?

There are multiple benefits of 1-1 tuition. The main benefit I believe, is we can discuss any detail of the course in depth until you are confident that you really understand it. Ultimately, transferring your hard work into success in the exam, is dependent on fully understanding the underlying topic(s). This will allow you to interpret and answer questions that may seem unfamiliar.

Q. What do I need for a lesson?

You will need a computer and a microphone to access the Discord call where meetings and lessons will take place. I recommend having pen, paper and a calculator ready. Headphones are also a good idea. It could also be useful for you to have some kind of simple drawing software installed on your PC. e.g. Microsoft Paint or Paintbrush for Mac. I’m happy to help you with this.

Q. Will I receive a reminder?

Yes you will receive an E-mail reminder 24 hours before the scheduled start time of your lesson.

Q. What is your working schedule for 1-1 tuition?

My teaching times are from 7am - 9pm (GMT). I teach every day excluding Fridays.

Q. What levels of education do you teach?

I offer A Level; Maths, Further Maths, and Physics tuition. I have helped some of my students that went on to study Maths or Physics at university with components of their undergraduate course too.

Q. Which exam boards do you cover?

I teach all exam boards offered in the UK.

Q. How can I get the most out of private lessons?

The best tip I have for getting the most out of private tuition is to come prepared!

If you have a good idea of what you would like to get done by the end of the session, that helps us make the most of our time together. It’s also best if we focus on one area of the course in any given lesson. This means we cover and understand one topic really well, rather than skimming the surface of lots of different topics.

Q. Do I have any experience teaching students with learning difficulties?

I have experience teaching students with dyslexia, dyspraxia and Asperger’s.

Q. How often should I have a lesson?

This depends on how much you would like to get done and in what time frame. If you are uncertain how many lessons you think might be necessary, lets discuss this in a free meeting and set a plan.

Q. Will I get the same tutor every time?

Yes! Currently the only tutor on this website is me, Jonathon!

Q. How are sessions tailored to my needs?

During our free meeting, we will discuss your strengths and weaknesses so we can get a good idea of areas where you need support. This will form the basis of our plan and we can adjust as we go along.

Q. Can my parent(s)/guardian(s) join the free meeting?

Absolutely! I would encourage them to join the free meeting and to pop in and chat during a lesson if they have any questions.

Q. Can I book a last minute lesson?

Yes, you can book a lesson for any time provided it is available in the booking system.

Q. Can I contact you between lessons?

Yes, all regular students will be able to contact me any time via Discord.

Q. How much does tuition cost?

Tuition can be booked in 1 hour sessions with each hour costing £49.
